Would you like to know what the most popular music of this almost finished decade is? How about a list of the top selling singles. They would represent the music that has shaped the past few years, how future generations would see this point in time, this tipping point in history where music was undergoing huge changes.

Well bugger me sideways. I expected it to be a bad list – but it appears music has been dominated by the lowest rent pop tripe imaginable.

Yes, I know the main buyer of singles is the teenage girl. Who are scientifically proven to buy whatever MTV tells them too. I have first hand experience of this selling CDs in Woolworths in my youth (all three almost completely redundant now.) But really? That bad?!

Two songs are about body parts.  One is about blow jobs. And three are by Britney bloody Spears.

This is beginning to sound like an old man rant about kids these days so I’ll stop.

The music industry, as it is, is dying. If this is true, then that list makes me want to hit it with a hammer and finish the job.
